Ok well it depends a lot on where/when someone is from. In Haurchefant's era "lovers" is probably okay. Technically that means you're having sex, like "lovers in the night" but all this terminology is pretty vague and unspecific by design. "Gay" means "happy" in a lot of places/times but it's pretty pc where/when I'm from
that's "politically correct", or polite
So you could say you're lovers, or together, or gay together depending. Boyfriends is usually fine. Or you could just say that you're gay, as in "I'm gay" not "we're gay"...
Maybe I should just write up like a reference or something there's a lot of terminology and a lot of it is probably specific to my world/time.
